Ok guys! I am gonna go ahead and start this challenge off. Hopefully this will motive you guys to get started.... So here is what i have so far. Still a work in progress but feel free to give me feed back! I want to give the arm holding the gun more weight and show it dragging more on the ground. Im not sure how i can do that... any advice?
Scenario is simple, a solder dude that got shot in the gut OR just a major case of diarrhea...pepto anyone? LOL
Looks good so far PETAH!
ReplyDeletehmm about the gun..i dunno how heavy it is, but i picked up a broom to see what happens...lol
if he's dragging it i might straighten his elbow out more and push the gun further behind him and maybe you can parent the IK arm ctrl to the gun also to get it to look like it's resting on the ground? (not sure if that works lol)
if he's holding it ABOVE the ground (it's hard to tell cuz it's blocked-in) just be sure his shoulder is leaned over that way..especially since he's shot in that same area, he's going to favour that side heavily.
not sure if my 'advice' is worth anything, maybe even less than 2 cents, but there it is :D!
Looking sweet!
ReplyDeleteI think Andrew's comments on the gun are about right. I'm not sure it looks very heavy right now. Either that, or it looks like he's still got more strength than you'd expect on that side. If you were shot in the abdomen, it would (probably) make carrying anything heavy, especially while walking, very difficult. Each time the weight of the gun pulls on his arm, it would affect his abs as well, making carrying the gun more difficult and painful than usual. He'd probably be more likely to just let gravity do the work, having the gun drag on the ground instead of trying to use any of his remaining strength to carry it.
I guess it depends on the type of injury though. I'm assuming it's somewhat major, like a gunshot, but if it's something like a bruise then my comments wouldn't apply so much.
Another thing I noticed is that he remains pretty low throughout his stride. His hips are low and behind him slightly, so it looks like he's basically squatting the entire time. I'm not sure if an injured person would walk like this, it seems as though it might end up being too difficult, putting a lot of stress on the leg muscles and using more energy than necessary. I think he'd be more likely to be standing up a bit straighter so he can put more energy towards nurturing his injury.
Anyway, those are just my opinions, take that as you like! It's looking really good so far, I look forward to the next update.
I'm gonna get started on mine now!
On top of what Andrew and Justin said..
ReplyDeleteI would lessen the distance his hip moves on the y-trans moving up and down. He doesn't have energy so you'd give the impression his whole body is dragging on the ground by keeping him more stuck to the ground.. like more gravity. You don't have to raise his feet too high off the ground too.
You could change the pace he takes steps. Like..
Right, Left, slowww Right.
Right, Left, slowww Right.
A slow right-step because he's dragging a heavy object with his left hand. It's hard to describe this here..
The same time, you need to rotate the upper torso more, and keep it rotated towards mostly his left-hand side where the gun is. That side of his body should lag behind.
Just let me know if you don't get any of this man.
